At V.I.B.E., our coaches do more than teach basketball — they develop leaders.
Vail Iconic Basketball Elite (VIBE Basketball Club) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit youth basketball program based in the Vail / Tucson area, and every coach is committed to building a competitive, disciplined, and growth-driven environment where athletes are challenged, supported, and held to a high standard.
Our coaching staff lives the ICONIC pillars daily and believes that player development goes beyond the court. We focus on effort, accountability, confidence, teamwork, and character — values that help athletes succeed in sports and in life.
Chris Chavez is the founder and director of Vail Iconic Basketball Elite, bringing over 20 years of coaching experience across youth, high school, and competitive club basketball. A lifelong basketball player and coach, he has worked with athletes ranging from youth levels through varsity, with experience assisting at the collegiate level and serving six seasons as an assistant coach for Cienega High School Girls Varsity.
Coach Chris is known for a defense-first, culture-driven approach that emphasizes accountability, effort, and team identity. He believes basketball is a platform for building confidence, leadership, and character — not just winning games.
He founded V.I.B.E. to provide athletes in the Vail / Tucson area with a structured, high-standard program that allows players to continue developing outside the high school season through training, competitive teams, and year-round skill work.
His coaching philosophy is rooted in V.I.B.E.’s ICONIC pillars — teaching athletes to understand who they are, take ownership of their growth, pursue a next-level mindset, act with intention, and represent their community with pride.
Marshall Gantt III has been involved in the game of basketball since the age of six and has been coaching and working with girls’ and women’s basketball since 2016. His experience includes working at the collegiate level as a women’s basketball manager at both Pima Community College and the University of Arizona, as well as coaching at the middle school and high school levels.
Marshall brings a detail-oriented approach to player development, focusing on strengthening weaknesses, building confidence, and creating strong relationships between players and coaches. He believes coaching is about pushing athletes beyond what they think they are capable of — both individually and as a team.
His coaching style emphasizes accountability, effort, confidence, growth, leadership, and commitment. Marshall joined V.I.B.E. to help build a program focused on developing athletes the right way, with strong culture, high expectations, and a commitment to long-term growth.
The V.I.B.E. coaching staff models the ICONIC pillars every day —
Identity • Character • Ownership • Next-Level Mindset • Intention • Community
We believe athletes rise when leaders live the standard, set clear expectations, and consistently model the behaviors they expect from their players. Coaches at V.I.B.E. hold themselves to the same level of accountability we expect from our athletes.
All V.I.B.E. coaches are committed to providing a safe, respectful, and positive environment for every player in the program.
